2 Stages to Weaning
Stage 1: 6-7ish months. Weaning begins when milk alone no longer satisfies babies' appetite. Start with small amounts of pureed fruit or vegtables in additional to a minimum of 600ml of milk a day.
7-9 ish months. Now ready to explore more tastes and textures your baby needs 3 meals of nutrient dense foods a day to fuel their rapid growth. Meat and fish should be introduced at this stage and food can now be mashed rather than pureed.
Stage 2: 9-12 ish months Finger foods become an important part of your child's diet as they learn to feed themselves with a little help of course
12-18 ish months Your child can now enjoy a full varied diet enjoying small portions of chopped up foods as part of the family mealtimes. |
