The BabyDan Hearth Gate Fire Guard is a screw fitted fire surround.  Finally, there is a way to protect children from the dual hazards of heat and fire from fireplaces and wood burning stoves as well as the dangerous corners and hard, rough surfaces associated with hearths

The standard gate comes with Five 60 cm (24inches) panels. Each interlocking section adjusts in 10° increments and can be angled or set in a straight line as needed, providing the most flexible solution for your fireplace. When used as a fire surround, this product is not a fire guard. It is intended to keep children away from the area surrounding the fire place. Included in the 5 piece basic set is a walk through gate section that can be installed anywhere in the configuration; except mounted against the wall;  and opens in either direction with a simple one hand adult release. The Hearth Gate is 70 cm (28inches) high and constructed of strong tubular steel with a black, non-toxic, heat resistant finish that is easy to maintain and blends with any decor. Suitable for children up to 36 months.

There is a total of 3 metres of panels included in the basic package.  You can by any additional 60cm or 20cm panels to add to your configuration if required.  (you will be prompted to add extensions if you add the hearth gate to the basket)

Additional extension panels can be added to allow you to fit this guard around your fireplace.     

Type of extensions 

20.5cm extension 

Increases the Width or Depth of the Hearth Gate by 20.5 cm.  Please note, the panels can be angled in the configuration to suit, with adjustments of 10 degree increments.  

60cm extension 

Increases the Width or Depth of the Hearth Gate by a full 60cm

This nursery fireguard is really very good - it's strong, too heavy for a young child to push or pull over easily (though there are posts to attach to secure it), plain in design and sensibly built. My only sorrow is that is quite difficult to put up and put down, perhaps necessarily, and therefore not easy for arthritic hands. The company sent it astonishingly quickly - it arrived in 24 hours.

Desparately in need of a hearth guard for our quite large open fire we decided to pay that bit extra for the Baby Dan. And we are delighted that we did, it is perfect not only for around the fire but we have converted it to the playpen for our little boy to play in from time to time. Excellent excellent excellent!
