The guards are quite thick, solid foam, however I was disappointed with the fixing tape supplied in the package as it was not double sided tape and therefore not suitable for its purpose. The guard design is okay but best suited for a cupboard or chest as tables tops are often shaped as mine is. However my granddaughter did manage to ‘bounce off’ on at least one occasion so yes, they did the job they were purchased for!
