Your baby will eventually reach an age when they are ready to have a bit of freedom. As general activity begins to increase, you can help with their development with the use of a baby bouncer. Baby bouncers keep your little one safe while giving them the sensation of moving under their own steam for the first time.Your baby’s first bouncer
Generally, most babies enjoy being in a bouncer although some will be fearful of the new found freedom it offers. If they get too upset then it’s clearly a bit too early to introduce them to a bouncer so hold on for a little longer before trying again.
For those babies who are ready, it’s a good idea to encourage healthy activity and a baby bouncer is a great way to do it. They’ll love the springing sensation plus the punting action of their legs and the gesticulation of the arms will help strengthen their muscles.
Additionally, a bouncer gives parents a physical rest from carrying and lifting all the time but you should never leave your baby unattended while they are in the bouncer. When your baby is showing signs of walking you should cease using the bouncer.
Which baby bouncer?
The traditional baby bouncer is fitted on the frame of an internal door. Ensure the architrave is secure, the correct depth and always keep the door wide-open (use a door stop to prevent it swinging shut).
The bouncer should have a comfortable padded seat and the springs should be sealed in a protective casing to prevent trapped fingers. It’s also a good idea to buy a bouncer that has washable covers in case of any accidents.
Another option is buy a bouncer that doubles as a seat. This type of bouncer surrounds your baby with interactive. Sounds, lights and noises are triggered as your baby bounces up and down. The seat allows your infant to spin around and as they grow the height can be adjusted.

When it’s time for sleeping, the gentle rocking motion can soothe them to sleep giving you a bit of peace a quiet for a while.
